Performing a wedding ceremony today!

It's the daughter of my friend Preston and her fiancee Aaron.  As always, I'm so honored they asked me to do this.  I'm so looking forward to it and I hope I give them what they're dreaming of for their wedding day.

To the people who thought the Rapture was coming on the 21st...

... I just found out that a number of believers killed their pets because they believed they would Ascend and leave no one to care for the animals.

Now the leader of this movement is saying he got the date wrong, that it's really coming in 5 months.

Please, if you're a follower of this movement, do not euthanize any more innocent pets.  People like me are here to care for such animals.  We're good people and we have references for how good we are with pet care.

You can find your local animal shelter and let them know you're concerned.  Look on to see what shelters are in your area.

Please, in 5 months, you don't have to end your pet's life.  Let good people take care of them for you.

So today is the end of the world...

... according to some people.  If it is, I have a message for my friends and family: I love you.  I hope you know.  I only know a couple of Born Again Christians, but I wish them well as they ascend into Heaven, leaving the rest of us to fry in the next five months.  Before they ascend, let me know if you want me to take care of your pets for you after you float off.  Shame I'm not going: I'm a lot of fun.

One other thing before earthquake comes or not: pretty cold of the guy who decided today was it to plan on basically saying "Oops!  I forgot to carry the one!" if the Rapture doesn't start today.  After all, people gave up their jobs etc. to carry on your word, buddy.  You shouldn't play around like that; wouldn't that cause you to lose your elevator trip up when the day does come?

And since the Rapture takes 5 months, does this mean I can still go to Disneyland in August?  I just don't if anyone will be at the airline...

You don't know what you got till it's gone.

In my current case, it's being able to speak.  You don't realize how cut off you are without it.  I can't answer the phone, because I can't talk with the person on the other end, and if I need to call someone, I have to wait for John to make the call for me.

Try getting gas when you can't talk with the attendant or talk to the pharmacist or your doctor or your family.

It can be frustrating, but for me it's temporary.  Unfortunately for my husband's good mood (lol!), I'll be back to full vocals at some point.  Hopefully in time for the murder mystery this weekend.  :)

John joined Team All Ears for Disney 5K!

He'll be raising money for Deb Wills' Fight Breast Cancer fund as part of the Team.

I'm very proud of him!  He enjoys doing this and it's making such a difference in his life.

I admit I'm jealous too!  I really wanted to train with him for the 5K this past weekend and now the January run, but I'm forbidden by my doctors because of my back.

Smiley from millan.netI will be cheering him and the whole Team on, January 6th, especially by doing what he always did at the marathons: eating a big muffin and drinking a cold apple juice as they go by shouting "Go, runner!"

Congratulations, John!

5K raises $30,000 for Grand Theater!

John ran the event and reached his personal goal.  Plus he raised over $1500 himself; in fact, he raised a lot more since some people put their donations for him under my account.  I'm very proud of him!

He wore a bright yellow Hawaiian shirt because, he said, if he collapsed in the woods, he wanted to be easy to find. ;)

I had a good time, walking and chatting with friends. We saw so many people and had a lot of laughs. Thanks to Christine for my balloon Mickey ears and penguin!Smiley from

I have a cold that I've been struggling with all week.  I lost my voice yesterday by the end of the day because of the sore throat; John looked up into the heavens and whispered "Thank You."

Thank you to everyone who donated and who worked so hard to make this great event!

Have you ever just wanted to run away?

It's different as an adult, isn't it?  As far as that child's childish shouting "I'm going to run away!  You'll be sorry!"  If that didn't work, I would throw in something like "I'll get hit by a truck and you'll never see me again!" That was a kid angry over a parent's discipline or dreaming of adventure and freedom from grownups.  It's a burst of temper or excitement.... and it fades when the emotion fades.

As an adult, I get it when I feel besieged on all sides.  It's a desire to escape, even for a while, from life because it's out of control and I can't be the one to get it back in hand.  It's being tired from handling those things for a long time.

I joke with John sometimes, "Let's just be gypsies. You, me, and the dogs going where we want."

You don't have to tell me: "No matter where you go, there you are."  I know that.

But for awhile, I'd like to run away and have adventures before I come back.

I went to tell Mom "Happy Mother's Day".

Which means I went to the cemetery.  I took her a card this year.  Cathi met me there with flowers.

I miss her so much.

Daytona, abandoned puppy!

As you know, we are fostering little Daytona for the Oasis Animal Sanctuary until he is adopted.
He is 3 months old and a mutt, a mixture of Schnauzer, Chihuahua, and Brussels Griffon (that's dog from the movie As Good As It Gets with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt);

He's healthy, has his shots, and will be neutered by Oasis when it is time. He is housebroken, very lovable, enjoys people and other pets!

The pictures don't do him justice!

If you're interested, please let me know or call Oasis at 856-262-1222.

Abandoned puppy! Updated!

I'm going to foster an abandoned 3 month old puppy for Oasis Animal Sanctuary. His name is Daytona amd he's a mixture of Schnauzer, chihuahua and something else; the person who abandoned him -- supposedly dropping him off and picking up later - supposedly said a Chessel, but we can't find any such designer dog name, but I think it might mean Chihuahua and Jack Russel.  He was taken from his mom and litter mates at only 4 weeks old and then dumped.  Despite it all, he's a total love bug and He's housebroken

He comes in tomorrow at 3pm and then heads for a vet appointment to check his health.

As soon as I get his picture, I'll post it.  Then, if you want to give little Daytona a forever home, let Oasis know!

Leaving for my third back injection.

I think this will do it. It's a little different today: it's in the joints of the vertebrae to take care of the pain that goes deep in the center of my back.

Fingers crossed. And I remembered not to eat. :)
