Merry Christmas!

Today is the Twelfth of Christmas! The day you get your true love 12 Drummers Drumming! So, this is for my honey:

(This one needs to work on his attitude) (Wow, this one loves drumming!) (ending on a big note!)

Of course, the big significance of today is the wise men meet Jesus and give him gifts. I remember as a kid how much fun these 12 days were; people visiting, calling, my mom and dad sharing the Christmas season with so many friends. It was special and fun, and it led up to today; they told me it was Little Christmas (I guess I had trouble saying Epiphany). In many cultures, it's the day people have their big Christmas celebration, having held festivities since December 24th.

My family follows the tradition of not putting Jesus in the nativity until Christmas. A friend of mine has a tradition of not putting the Wise Men in the nativity until today. Wish I had thought of that! He'll even hide the wise men in a friend's nativity if they put them out before the Epiphany, and calls them today to say where they're hidden. LOL!

I once found a drawing that I love showing a more accurate version of that moment, with little Jesus hanging on to Mary's skirts as the magi approached the door. The charm and feeling to it.... it still stays with me, and I enjoy thinking about it. I know that they weren't kings, they didn't arrive when he was a baby, and we don't know how many really came that day. This is all Matthew wrote:

Behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.

No mention of how many, just more than 1, that's all we know. Doesn't say they came riding on camels either.

Matthew 2:11 states:

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him . . .

Not the stable, their house. And young child, not newborn, not baby.

That's the first that grabbed my attention: how different the truth was and then the sweet, beautiful appeal to it. I'm not surprised our customs are so different than what was described. I know Jesus wasn't born on December 25th either (we stole that from Horace and Mithras) and Herod probably never had a Massacre of the Innocents. I like the image of a toddler Jesus, home with his mother, when these men (2? 5? 20?) come to him.

Here's another little odd tidbit. When I hear the word for wise men is magi, I start picturing these magi:

The way they were depicted in the Mummy. Can you imagine these guys showing up at Mary and Joseph's house? :)

In the end, here's what it's important: Merry Christmas to my friend Maria and everyone else celebrating today, the day chosen for little Jesus receiving his gifts from the wise men.

At the Green Acres campground at exit 53 in South Carolina. Our friends Carol and Gary recommended it and were here a couple nights ago.

Another gorgeous day. Last night, we watched Osbourne Lights and Fantasmic in 70 degrees weather, t-shirt and shorts. Tomorrow night, we will have snow flurries. Sigh.

Good thing I have my Mouseketeer cookie to cheer me up. Seems barbaric to bite his little head off though. I will close my eyes so I don't see his cuteness.

The Boardwalk has a new Stitch's Bakery gingerbread shop plus another gingerbread set up that we will go back and DeeDee in more detail after dinner. They even have a QR code to get a video on how they made it!

We met this wonderful couple here celebrating their 60th anniversary! I can't imagine. Our tables were actually held up while Cat Cora did something and we all jokes about how we are going to give her a piece of our minds - except John who said he was going to rat us all out if he meets her. :)

We came here to have lunch at Mara's. When i was here the lay time - with Barrie in our AllEars shirts - I was a rock star with cast members all excited about seeing us. Today, it if Humble Town. Lol!

John just had to point out the hot tub on the map! "The pin killer," he called it because I dropped an expensive electric pin in it once (right after he said be careful) and it took 2 cast members to get it out. And while they nicely have me a new pin, John had never leery me line it down. ;)

Even after Rico escaped his collar and ram for 3 campsites and than hid under a truck, while Daytona wanted to Erin with the Fort Wilderness segway tour and Elphie pulled in a different direction.

We have to run errands - get dog food etc. - so we left property. I can feel the Magic leave my body. But Join just noticed a Hooters restaurant and us feeling good. ;)

we have to stay out of the park for 2 days. wish we had our annual passes but we will find other things to do and it will help johns back to rest. we just have so much to do in the parks that we wish we had at least 1 more day on our tickets. we are hoping to do the christmas party tonight, we will have to see have johns back is feeling.

John and I are walking around Epcot's World showcase, watching the different holidays around the World presentations, like Pere Noel in France. We also saw the France movie, my favorite post was John falling asleep, seeing me watching him, and pretending he was alert, intently pointing out something.

Deb speed to talk with us in the UK pavilion, and we said Goodby in car we do not see her at breakfast tomorrow. I hate the goodbyes.

We also saw Ray and Masayo which was great.

Truth to tell, we are in Japan and John got me a plum wine. Now I am feeling sleepy...

AllEars December to Remember begins!

We had a wonderful morning with Martin, Cathi, and the baby in Animal Kingdom. May actually got his picture with Mickey! He ate a good amount and behaved: unlike last night, sweet Jesus! Then we did the safari, and to see his face when he saw those animals.... Magic.

It was the best time we ever saw the lion too.

Now John and I are going to Magic Kingdom for the first AllEars' event: behind the scenes of Carousel of Progress. Team members are going early to help out and I need to pick up my swag for my tour tonight. I wish this cold front had not come through. I don't want people wishing they had not come because it is cold.

Someone on the bus had a Mary Queen of the Universe bag! I always loved that name for the church. Talk about grandiose!

I've been meaning to mention it all day! This time last year, Deb Wills had her Illumination Party and released the AllEars Walt Disney Trading Card! We all squealed like kids when we saw it.

As I write this, we can hear the Illuminations finale.

Everybody pooped out at Downtonwn on me. ;) So we headed back. John started grumbling again how the one PhotoPass Photographer thought he was Marty Jr's grandfather. ;) He did get the baby to stop fussing on the way back and laugh instead. But that turned to some more fussing eventually before he dropped off to sleep in Cathi's arms. They need to get him to take naps. He's just such a stubborn cuss.

He had a great time at the Marketplace though, riding the carousel and the little train, then on overload in World of Disney when we took him to the Plush section. With cries of "Mi'Mouse! Mi'Mouse! Mi'Mouse!", he tore here and there, making the cast members laugh!

We had dinner at the Earl of Sandwich which is always good. At the bus stop, we were surprised to see the Grand Floridian had to share a bus with Wilderness Lodge. While we... lowly little campground we.... had our own bus. Suck it, $300 a night! LOL!

Our golf cart badly needs charging. This afternoon, Martin would jump out, as a joke, on the slightest incline and run along side, pretending to push! Tonight, John teased, "Remember how fast the cart was when it was just us going to Meadows, Marty?" He said, "Yeah, we flew. It blew our hair around in the wind!"

"Then it'd be a time machine besides a rocket," Cathi laughed because of their lack of said hair.

Tomorrow is an early day: Magic Kingdom with breakfast at Crystal Palace (Winnie the Pooh character meal) before the park opens! (8:20) That means great photos of Main Street and Castle with no decorations! I'm hoping parade filming is over and the tree will be back in place in the Square.

Hopefully, my data signal will be good! I'm really fed up with getting nothing.

John and Martin were by themselves with the baby, and they realized people thought they were a couple. John put his arm around Martin's shoulders and they told people they had chosen to adopt. :)
Every once in awhile, they tell us about the choices they're making for their son.

We left Epcot to walk the dogs. Daytona has a lot of friends there, but his favorite is Roxie, a minipin. He goes to meet every new dog coming in, as if he's the official greeter to the dog park. John says he is so much like the baby - loud, energetic, and friendly - that he calls hum Marty Jr Jr.

We are going to downtown now.

John had us up early, so we took the dogs to the dog park and went for our traditional view of the castle from the beach.

We got coffee and then it was time to head out. John showed Marty the horses, pointing out which one was peeing and giving him the wrong words for things. Like pointing to a bus and saying boat.
