I feel like when I was a kid in the 70s I had more choices in toys & colors than girls do today. Because there were no pink Big Wheels or pink blocks I just played with regular primary colored big wheels and regular blocks and Lego. Sure, there were always Barbie and GI Joe, but the rest of the toys weren't as gendered as they are now. Because they made pink Wiffleball bats, the default yellow ones became "boy" bats. And so on for every gender-neutral toy that's been pinked. It makes me so mad!
I didn't think of that, Kim. You're right. I rode on the same Big Wheels as the boys etc.But it is true that the superhero aisle was for boys; when you were a girl, they handed you a doll. I didn't like dolls. ;)
